We wanted to take a moment to sing the high praises of both Paddy and Andy McCarthy, with whom we just worked with in both the purchase of a new home and the sale of our existing house. We first met Paddy and Andy at an open house and were instantly impressed by their genuine nature and enthusiasm for realty. We recently relocated from Toronto to Ottawa and Andy and Paddy were with us all the way to ensure a smooth transition. Really a joy to work with

Andy and Paddy charmed me the moment I met them. From the first meeting to our celebratory drinks, I felt at ease and that I had the very best team on my side. When I walked into the office I was expecting a lecture regarding a reality check, or perhaps just being laughed at!

I wanted a sizeable home, in a great location, with multiple units and I wanted my champagne taste on a beer bottle budget. I was willing to wait though, would have been thrilled if something came up in the next 12 months. Paddy said I would be surprised at how quick the process can be. Ha! I was now laughing at him. He doesn’t know how picky I am! In the end, Andy could envision everything on my wish list in a totally new and improved way. Within two weeks I was signing the offer for a house that was more than I ever thought was possible.

Being my first house I was utterly dependent on my boys to be my guide. There were countless times when I would phone frantically, and Andy would reply don’t worry, I’ve got this, I’ll get you the answer in an hour tops’, and he did, time and time again.

Andy and Paddy were efficient and skillful and really a joy to work with. I’m happy to have the home beyond my dreams, but sad that our time together has come to an end. Thank you Andy and Thank you Paddy. This process, and the home I now have, would not have been as wonderful, as fun, or as perfect, if it weren’t for you two.

Andy showed me a property that was absolutely perfect. That night he called to say the owners had received a conditional offer. I was so disappointed and Andy encouraged me to keep looking because my perfect property was still out there. Two weeks later, days before I was leaving on a trip, Andy called to say the offer had fallen through and I could have first crack the property. I was ecstatic! Knowing that I was traveling Andy stepped in and made all the necessary arrangements to satisfy the conditions. He arranged the inspection, gathered several quotes for work required, communicated with the mortgage broker, liaised with the lawyer, forwarded documents from the property management company, and drove through the worst snow day Ottawa had ever seen to finalize all the paperwork. During part of my absence Andy was also away. Although he had arranged coverage from his team he stayed in daily communication and still managed to oversee all the details.

Andy is the most dedicated, professional, and intelligent real estate agent I have worked with. Aside from being charming with a great sense of humour, his knowledge and negotiation skills are top notch. I am truly looking forward to making another purchase with him because as Tina Turner said he is “simply the best”!

He quickly became more like a friend

I am an Armed Forces member an have moved approx every three years for the last 20 yrs. I have a lot of experience with realtors and ANDY IS THE BEST! He quickly became more like a friend. My husband has said “house hunting trips are never fun”.

Generally we move to a new area and have five days to find and close a deal including schools for kids etc. With Andy it was FUN! We had a packed day of viewings with an itinerary that only a professional could have arranged. He set me up with a system for decision making so that I felt organized and didn’t become overwhelmed by the numerous options. Andy was patient, unbelievably responsive (and I was only renting?!), and best of all he quickly got to know me and provided relevant and highly appreciated advice and opinion. He was never pushy, always kind and full of thoughtful ideas.

He remained positive that I would find the perfect place, even when things weren’t looking good. Completely because of his tenacity, I did find the perfect place! I was no longer in the area so when it became available he quickly made an appointment and FaceTimed me through a walk through! I was comfortable renting having not stepped foot in the space because even after a short time, Andy already knew what I was looking for…probably better than I did. I say that because I almost rented a place that I wasn’t in love with because I was pressed for time. Andy could tell that I was sacrificing too many wants to end up happy and he convinced me to wait. BOY WAS HE RIGHT!!

I will buy a house within the year and Andy will definitely be my realtor of choice! I will also recommend him to all my Canadian Armed Forces brethren who move to the area.
